Start the School Year Strong with These Daily Routines
It’s that time of year again when everything feels fresh, new, and perhaps a little stressful. I have four tips for you to help navigate the chaos.
Clothing Choices:
Set up a system to pick out a week’s worth of clothes all at one time. Sunday night would be a great option for this re-set. Have the kids help check weather and check laundry options one time for the week.
2. Packing lunches:
Do it the night before, and get the kids involved! Don’t forget the snack and a refill on the water bottles. The key here is that you must measure around your garbage disposal and any pipes. This is a tricky spot where many people store cleaning supplies, garbage bags, toilet paper and dishwasher pods. It can be untapped potential for sure!
3. School papers:
Use one labeled bin to corral all of the things. Is a form due soon? Take care of it right away with the 2 minute rule. Art work, school papers - if you can’t make a decision immediately? File it away until the bin is full. (Can also mention my zipper bags again, for longer term filing).
4. Routines:
Time management is a hugely important skill to teach your kids! Use a visual clock, master calendar for your family/nerve center. It takes 66 days to form a new habit, so get them started young. Yes, you’ll need to remind them A LOT.
