4 Forgotten (but Important!) Spaces to Organize
Well, these are NOT your glamorous, pretty spaces to organize. The gorgeous, magazine-worthy pantries and primary closets have polar opposites! They are kind of ugly, dark, tricky spaces that are easily forgotten. But they are SO IMPORTANT to maximize function, to fully utilize your space, and create a home for everything in your house. Yes, everything needs a home. Let’s take a deep dive into functional organizing.
Junk Drawer:
The key here is to create a zone for everything by dividing everything into categories. If it all doesn’t fit, find a different home for the overflow categories.
I’d like to rebrand this as a multipurpose drawer. Typically everyone has items like household tools, office supplies, electronic accessories, gift cards, and stationary in at least one drawer of their home.
2. Under the kitchen or bathroom sink:
The key here is that you must measure around your garbage disposal and any pipes. This is a tricky spot where many people store cleaning supplies, garbage bags, toilet paper and dishwasher pods. It can be untapped potential for sure!
3. Basement:
The key here is to use vertical space with shelving and plastic totes, and CATEGORIZE. Don’t let this be your dungeon of indecision! Many times this space is overlooked but you may be able to significantly increase your storage space if you use this correctly.
Most people send items down here if they don’t want to make a decision about decluttering. Make your space work for you! Use this space effectively! Items not used daily can live here.
